From September 24–28, the Lumino team travelled to Lisbon, Portugal, to attend the 7th International Conference on Medical Cannabis, hosted by PTMC (Portugal Medical Cannabis).
What began as a professional event turned into an inspiring week of collaboration, learning, and connection within the rapidly evolving European cannabis industry.
Cultivating Connections in Lisbon
Our week began with Cultivate Connections LX, an exclusive rooftop networking event co-hosted with CANNAVIGIA and Fluence.
With panoramic city views, authentic wood-fired pizzas, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, the evening set the perfect tone for the days ahead. A special thanks to Sebastian Sonntagbauer for elevating the mood with his incredible vinyl set – the music, conversation, and energy truly reflected the collaborative spirit of the European cannabis industry.

Insights and Inspiration at PTMC 2025
The next day, we joined hundreds of professionals at the PTMC Conference held in the historic Sociedade de Geografia de Lisboa. The event brought together thought leaders, scientists, and business innovators from across Europe to share insights on the future of medical cannabis.

The next day, we joined hundreds of professionals at the PTMC Conference held in the historic Sociedade de Geografia de Lisboa. The event brought together thought leaders, scientists, and business innovators from across Europe to share insights on the future of medical cannabis.
We were fortunate to attend panels featuring experts such as Laura Ramos, Sarah Sinclair, Amit Edri (Portocanna), Alfredo Pascual, CFA, Fátima Godinho Carvalho (LEF – Laboratório Estudos Farmacêuticos), Danielle Andrea (Curaleaf Laboratories), Franziska Katterbach (Oppenhoff), Michael Sassano (SOMAÍ), Joana Silveira Botelho (Cuatrecasas), António Vieira (AceCann), Margarita Cardoso de Meneses (CannaReporter®), and many others.
These discussions provided valuable perspectives on regulation, patient access, research, and the commercial evolution of the European cannabis industry.
The conference concluded with a beautiful dinner at the iconic Casa do Alentejo, a 19th-century venue full of charm and history.

And to spice things up, the organisers arranged a heated debate over the future of medical cannabis in Portugal featuring neurologist Professor Carl Hart, Alfredo Pascual, Jorge Miguel Teixeira (Iniciative Liberal), Bárbara do Amaral Correia (PSD – Partido Social Democrata), and Cláudia Estêvão (Partido CHEGA).
A huge thank you to Laura Ramos, Helena Solnado, and João Duarte for curating such a meaningful and memorable event.
Building Bonds Beyond Borders
At Lumino, this philosophy guides everything we do. Every time our team gathers for an industry event, we see it as more than just a networking opportunity, it’s a chance to strengthen the relationships that make our mission possible.
And this time, having our entire team together – Thomas Gray, Nikita Cretu, Ellen Jardim, Aj Mishra, Eric Spelten, and Roberto Perez – made this one of our most meaningful company gatherings yet.

Since launching in the UK in 2018, Lumino has expanded internationally, with team members across three countries supporting clients through cannabis recruitment in Europe and beyond. Seeing everyone together reminded us how far we’ve come, and how collaboration continues to drive our success.
We were also delighted to welcome our friend Anuj Desai, sharing great food, conversation, and a few memorable Lisbon walks.
At Lumino, we believe that an industry is only as good as the people in it.
This starts with our own culture. As such, we put an emphasis on creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and connected.
Looking Ahead
Weeks later, we’re still reflecting on everything we experienced in Lisbon, and feeling more inspired than ever.
Events like PTMC remind us why we’re passionate about this space: to help build a thriving, responsible, and inclusive European cannabis industry.
We’re grateful for the conversations, the new partnerships, and the sense of shared purpose that came from this incredible week.
A BIG thank you to everyone we met in Lisbon, Portugal. We look forward to continuing to support the growth of this industry through our work in cannabis recruitment in Europe and to seeing many of you again soon.
