Best Customer Service Award

Honoring those who consistently go the extra mile to deliver outstanding support, compassionate care, and insightful guidance to patients or clients in the world of medical cannabis.

Louise Farey wins the Best Customer Service Award at the Cannabis Industry Awards 2025 organised by the Cannabis Industry Council

“Louise’s impact is felt in the quiet moments – when a patient finally feels safe enough to ask the hard questions & finds reassurance in her calm, informed guidance. She doesn’t just answer queries; she builds trust, fosters understanding, and restores dignity.”

“Their integrity and genuine care for the well-being of their patients shine through their day-to-day interactions with patients, and it is a genuine pleasure to have a clinic under the leadership of such an insightful patient, whose motivation to support patients extends far beyond their job.”

“Emma’s approach to customer service is second to none. She takes the time to truly understand individual needs, providing solutions that are clear, effective, and reassuring. Her attention to detail and proactive communication ensure that no query goes unresolved, and every customer feels supported.”

Clinician of the Year Award

Presented to a healthcare professional who has shown remarkable leadership, compassion, and dedication to excellence in caring for patients who use medical cannabis.

Dr Luisa Searle, winner of the Clinician of the Year Award at the Cannabis Industry Awards 2025 organised by the Cannabis Industry Council

“She goes above and beyond to advocate for the well-being of all UK medical cannabis patients, not just the ones under her care. She educates the wider community about medical cannabis, advocates for patients’ rights, and tries in every way to make this industry one we should feel proud of.”

“Their practice reflects a deep understanding of both the pharmacological nuances and the lived realities of patients managing mental health vulnerabilities. They advocate for informed consent, fair access, ensuring that every patient encounter is grounded in dignity and clinical rigour.”

“Gracia exemplifies clinical excellence with humanity at its heart. She has helped transform lives and celebrates these moments alongside her patients – sometimes even with a dance.”

Contribution to Science Award

Celebrating individuals who have pushed the boundaries of scientific knowledge in medical cannabis, whether through pioneering research, creative innovation, or commitment to evidence-based practice.

Dr Simon Erridge & Dr Mikael Sodergren, winners of the Contribution to Science Award at the Cannabis Industry Awards 2025 organised by the Cannabis Industry Council

“Their research has deepened global understanding of cannabinoids’ effects on pain, inflammation, and cancer, while their leadership of the UK Medical Cannabis Registry has built one of the most comprehensive real-world evidence bases in Europe. With over 40,000 patient outcomes and more than 35 peer-reviewed publications, their work continues to shape clinical guidance and inform international policy.”

“She is leading the charge in women’s health and cannabinoid science—conducting clinical trials using CBD to treat endometriosis, a debilitating, painful condition that has been underfunded and under-researched for decades.”

“Shanna has written a ground-breaking study regarding the economic impact of medical cannabis, amongst a number of other key issues.”

Social Impact Award

Paying tribute to those who have truly impacted patients, families, and communities by championing advocacy, spreading education, or providing invaluable support—all while helping to enhance access and quality of life for those they serve.

Guy Coxall, winner of the Social Impact Award at the Cannabis Industry Awards 2025 organised by the Cannabis Industry Council

“Guy’s advocacy is marked by boldness and integrity. He travels the country at his own expense, offering strategic guidance and emotional support to those failed by the system. His campaign is not just about cannabis—it’s about autonomy, dignity, and the right to health.”

“From the beginning, Gary’s mission has been clear: to deliver safe, affordable, stigma-free access to cannabis-based medicine. He is not just improving healthcare access—he is building dignity, awareness, and solidarity across communities. His work ensures that medicinal cannabis care is not a privilege, but a right.”

“His cannabis club has helped me so much with my mental health and helped me to find the right way to use my cannabis, and the social lounge has helped me no end, getting me out of the house and socialising.”

The Green Award

Applauding trailblazers who champion innovation and demonstrate strong leadership in environmental sustainability, highlighting those setting the standard for eco-friendly practices throughout the medical cannabis sector.

Jamie Bartley, winner of the Green Award at the Cannabis Industry Awards 2025 organised by the Cannabis Industry Council

“Jamie is a driving force in the UK’s hemp revolution, championing the crop’s potential as a scalable solution to climate, construction, and soil health challenges. Under his leadership at Unyte, Jamie’s hands-on work spans cultivation, processing innovation, and policy reform, all with a focus on real-world environmental impact, from regenerating degraded land to advancing carbon capture research. He is constantly on the move, speaking and presenting at conferences and events across the UK and abroad, actively helping shape regulation to unlock hemp’s full potential. On the ground, he’s assisting farmers, builders, and innovators adopt low-carbon, circular solutions using every part of the plant. Jamie isn’t just talking about sustainability, he’s building the infrastructure, partnerships, and political will to deliver it at scale.”

“James was the principal designer of the now patented Glass Pharms greenhouse, which operates completely off-grid and is powered entirely by supermarket and household food waste that would otherwise go to landfill. The greenhouse runs on rainwater gathered from the roof and is heated by excess heat from anaerobic digestion. This UK innovation has created something truly unique in the industry: carbon-negative medical cannabis and a genuinely net-zero business that completely mitigates the principal ecological impacts of cannabis cultivation.”

“Emily launched a reusable cup campaign in her local community, championing sustainable practices at grassroots level.”

Unsung Hero Award

Shining a spotlight on someone whose steadfast dedication and behind-the-scenes contributions have created a meaningful and enduring impact within the medical cannabis industry.

Leila Simpson, winner of the Unsung Hero Award at the Cannabis Industry Awards 2025 organised by the Cannabis Industry Council

“She has put in a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes and UPA is grateful for her effort and support. Whether it be chairing and running team meetings, creating spreadsheets and keeping the team accountable, as well as reaching out to industry leaders for support on the UPA’s behalf. I have no hesitation in saying that we may not have the UPA if Leila had not stepped in and helped us.”

“Berta has been a bastion of the industry for so long. She is running patient advocacy targeted at our most vulnerable patients, specifically ethnic minority women.”

“Clark has been campaigning for patient access to medical cannabis since 2011 through the United Patients Alliance. His dedicated work has provided medical cannabis education, a voice for patients, and outreach programmes, and continues to champion affordable patient access. Clark deserves recognition for his commitment to patient advocacy and access, education, and raising public awareness.”

Looking forward to 2026

For those who attended, it was lovely catching up with all of you.

We look forward to seeing you at next year’s edition – and look forward to hearing about how far the UK’s medical cannabis industry can push the bar in the year to come!
