Joel’s journey into the cannabis industry is deeply personal—his Jamaican heritage meant he spent his early years immersed in a community that cultivated cannabis, giving him a unique connection to the plant and its cultural significance. Combined with his passion for the industry and experience working in highly regulated sectors like Pharma, Sustainable Energy and Infrastructure, Joel brings a rare blend of personal passion and professional expertise to the table.

Over the last 10 years Joel has mastered the art of building high performing teams across various regulated markets. Now, he’s diving headfirst into the world of cannabis, leveraging his expertise to help companies thrive in this fast-evolving industry.

About Roberto Perez

Roberto’s professional journey is as diverse as his personal background. Born in the Philippines, he spent most of his life overseas in countries such as Singapore, Vietnam, Switzerland and is currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. This international exposure naturally gave him the ability to easily integrate anywhere and to engage with a wide diversity of people.

Professionally, he began his career in the hospitality industry, working his way up to manage multiple restaurants and bars for renowned brands like the Ritz-Carlton. He later pivoted to a career in marketing, seeing himself become a consumer insights consultant, a successful Youtube content creator, and then a Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer of a B2B startup that was backed by the esteemed venture capital firm, 500 Global. As such, he brings to the table an impressive blend of business acumen, marketing experience & top-notch customer support skills.

His ethos, drawn from the startup world, is geared towards efficiency & resourcefulness – making BIG things happen with less effort. Additionally, his passion for supporting emerging, innovative businesses that disrupt the market make him a great fit for the cannabis industry at large.
